Washington, DC Assault With Intent to Kill While Armed Charge DISMISSED

After nine months of government investigation, Farrelly PC client has charge of assault with intent to kill while armed dismissed.  Assault with intent to kill while armed, or "AWIK" while armed, is charged under DC Code Sections 22-401 & 4502 and carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in jail and/or a $75,000 fine.  If an individual is convicted of AWIK while armed, even with no prior criminal record, he or she faces a jail sentence of 7.5-15 years according to the Voluntary Sentencing Guidelines.  Further, no matter what the circumstances, AWIK while armed carries a MANDATORY MINIMUM jail sentence of 5 years.
